I have today and tomorrow off. I am grateful for that. The only words we hear is that change is coming this month...but is it a change in structure or will many of us just be booted out the door.

I stayed up until 2 AM and slept until 7;30. Perhaps a nap after lunch ;-) That was my routine when I was young...and it will probably be my routine if I can ever not work corporate. I truly love being creative from 7 PM to 2 AM. Growing up without a/c it would be cooler then and then sleep in the cool of wee hours.

The painting is interesting. It is teaching me what I need work on for some art I have been planning...my own stuff I have been planning for years, but didnt have the knowledge to start.

Things I need to figure out:

How can I get my paint to feel buttery on the canvas. It's dragging. I dont know if it is the cheap canvas boards or or that my paint dries too fast.

I need to work on proper blending...a transition for a proper sky...or in reverse for a proper ocean. Not sure if it relates to the sticky.

I wonder if I would like water soluble oils better? Not sure.

Looking forward to getting back to my watercolor. I still like the idea of square paintings.

there is a technique i liked in high school that involved doing an underpainting and then tinting with paint that had been thinned with gesso to move. i always liked the way the tint took - like a pastel (or, i assume, perhaps like a watercolor). would that be cheating? you wouldn't need to do the underpainting, i mean, you could just thin the acrylics and make them flow more.
