I tried to do a little work today so I would have time to talk to the IT people on Monday.
Worked a bit and got what I wanted done. I got up and went down stairs to ask Dad something and when I came up stairs the work laptop had a black screen. I tried the control/alt/delete command to "wake it UP", but it doe not work. I tried to power it down, but it would not power down. The power button just stays lit no matter how long I hit the button. I have never not had a work computer not hard reboot like that. I took the battery out and pressed the power button again. Nothing happened. When I unplugged the power cord the light on the power button went out, but as soon as the battery was put back in the light came on again. I even put the thing in the freezer in case something was overheating. Nope. I opened up the back and everything looks normal... and nothing was hot.
What bothers me is that I cannot go to work and have someone look at it. They told us last week that if anything came up we would have to go to the business continuity site about 50 miles away. I am in a panic as I dont drive to get that far away. A couple of people offered to give me a ride...but I would have to work there...and not 6 miles away in my office building.
I have a week's vacation left so I may be forced to take that. That would be okay as long as I could bring my laptop into work to get it fixed, but IT is also working remote.
I know getting upset wont help anything. But all I want to do is be part of a team and work... and it seems like that is impossible for me. I just don't fit in...anywhere.
and no matter the outcome I know my boston boss will use this against me.
