May. 2nd, 2021 09:37 amI can't tell if I have a case of sour grapes or I feel that something is being elitist....maybe both.
If a place only allows special passes to enter and try can only get those passes on line...and those passes become available on Thursday at noon for Saturday or Sunday. This removes a lot of people who have to work during the week. This limits the people who can go to those that have internet and then to those who either have the ability to be on line at noon... many types of work does not allow that. These precious passes are often sold out within an hour unless a hurricane is predicted.
In some way its like trying to get concert tickets when I was young, but then I could wait in line for hours. Hell, many people slept on the sidewalk to get some concert tickets ;-)
And while I have the internet and I can sneak on line and try... it is my privilege, I know that there are many people who cannot . The elderly, the disabled who cannot navigate the internet, people who don't have credit cards, lower income jobs. Even middle people with jobs that require them to work at the prescribed times.
This is my happy place beach..a place where I could be alone and feel the wonder that nature can give. This makes me sad, but I find that others are being kept away smells a bit like elitism.. and it feels wrong.
