Jul. 20th, 2018 11:07 amSo, catching up after a few days.
Tuesday was weird and non productive. I got up and out early to try and see a genius at the Apple Store Genius bar. I love Apple's customer service. It is why Apple products are expensive...but they have helped me out a lot. I get there and they say they have a walk in appointment one at 11:15. Okay. They said they would text me 10 minutes before. Okay...so I roamed over to "Eatly", an Italian market... lovely lovely foods... Funny thing is that I actually heard the text notification. Yup, 5 minutes before my appointment the phone fixes itself. Bah! I still went and a lovely Genius explains what the headphone setting meant and that I had done what he recommended to do to fix it and he laughed at the irony of the phone fixing itself. He took it for 10 minutes and ran a diagnostic and tried to recreate the situation. He could not. Oh well...that was 4 hours out of my life.
I came home and packed to head to a friends to head to Maine. The weather turned and we had dangerous storms with flash flooding so we stayed in the Boston area and headed North early in the morning. We went to dinner and chatted into the night.
In the morning we headed to Old Orchid Beach... an Eastern Beach area that my grandparents vacationed at. It's kind of honkey tonk, but there is lots to look at. The beach was HUGE HUGE HUGE. The waves are stronger than my beloved Crane's Beach, but the water was fabulously refreshing and clear (my house beach has cloudy silty waters). No sea shells though. The surf is too hard. It was great going to the beach with someone who likes being at a beach. We beached until 11:30 and then took a walk to the pier and had french fries and walked by all the beach bars and t shirt stores. Everyone was just relaxed and happy. We settle in a bar where my friend knew the afternoon entertainment and we listed to music at a beach for for a few hours and work on our back tan lines ;-)
Later in the afternoon we went to Ogunquit (I fell in love with this town last year), met her brother and sister in law and we went to a really nice lounge to listen to more great music and hang out. This place was in the little of a resort motel place. There was someone using their phone to film the area so I waved at them. Then a little kid waved at me and I waved back. My friend that I was silly... I said I was, but at least I didn't have enough alcohol that I would flash the people with the cameras. I am not apposed to my photo being taken, but you may not be able to guess what I will do ;-)
I really can fall in love with this life style. My friend doesn't have a lot of money, but she also does have Wednesdays off from work. She does this every Wednesday. I wish I could be free from the stupid schedule I keep... yeah yeah... this involves a change of jobs... more on that later...
Yesterday I was a slug. Maybe too much sun the day before. While I was a slug I was not bored. I must have needed the rest day. My negative thing was I burned the broccolini on the grill. Og well, the rest of dinner was good.
This morning I get several phone calls from a number that I did not know, but no message. My phone was in my hand so I did not miss it. Then I get a call from Dad. The doctor it took me months to get an appointment just cancelled the August 7 appointment and wanted to push it back to November. ARRRGGHHH. They could not make an appointment this morning so we are waiting for a call back. I asked if he could see anyone for back pain... anyone...before the physical. I know he is going to need an MRI. I know he can't fill out any forms without me. And I wanted this done so I could see what is wrong with him... and while my boss isn't my friend I know I can get the time to take Dad to the Doctors and make up the time or work from at home. I can't do this with a new job. It irks me as I should not need a new job as I am good at what I do, but I just can't keep covering for the other 2 people on my team when they can't do any of my work...
Today I thought I would have a visit from a friend, but it's a no show. I have lunch with Dad and food shopping planned, then dinner with my older friends. I need to see them more often. I try, but it is hard as I like doing things and not just sitting...and I am not really a TV watcher. They are finding that their family nieces and nephews are forgetting about them. It is a shame as I know that they took all those kids everywhere and did so much with them... but they have become really self centered jerks.
Tomorrow I want to go to Ipswich and to Cranes beach.
