My friend in the hospital is taking turns for the better. Yesterday she was able to focus enough to try and ply a game of scrabble. The fluid is sill building around her heart and the pneumonia is still an issue, but pneumonia is not something you get over in a week and half.

My other friend's mom that fell and broker her arm in 7 places is settling in to life and is off prescription pain meds. She also has movement in the arm so in a few weeks they will start therapy on her.

For me all this hospital talk/stuff is bring back nightmares. Both of these people have the same orthopedic surgeon that saw my Mom... and the same surgeon did not want bother with her...would not even give her pain meds when the 5 she came home with ran out... There are 2 reasons for that. One was that she didn't have a primary care doc and the other was that she was so scared...TERRIFIED...of being moved around in complete blindness and pain that she was yelling in fear and crying in pain... and no one wants to deal with people who are difficult, and even as I held her I could not make her feel safe to calm down and be herself... and neither would the heavy duty meds that she agreed to take would allay her fear and calm her down.

Oh well... the brain chews on things. Got to get moving and give it some more pleasant things to chew on.

Today, since it is warm, I will look for the owl and bald eagle that seem to have taken winter residence around my bay.

I am also making a smoke shoulder dinner... this is my favorite cut of pork. I have never cooked one before, but Ma made it often. I do hope there are leftovers.

Tonight there is also Blue Planet 2 on BBC America. Although I know to leave the room when they show the deceased baby whale... that made the news the it was filmed
