Sep. 20th, 2020 10:09 amYesterday I went up to Ipswich. A necklace I ordered came in. The designer did not have them when I was up in Ipswich earlier because she was having trouble getting things shipped from her casting person.
Dad wanted to go so we made an afternoon of it. We hit the bar/restaurant at 11:30...as soon as it opened. We were the first in and everything smelled of disinfectant. I have known the bar tender/restaurant manager since I have been going up starting in 2005 so I feel its safe. It was such a nice Fall day out that no one else came in for lunch until we received out bill. I had my favorite Fried clams. Dad had the Lobster Roll.
Since we were there I went to the Orchard and picked up some apples, cider, and pumpkins at their outside stand. Inside the gates was too crowded. I is peak apple picking season and the customers inside the gates were not really far enough apart for me. They all had masks on, but they were up each others back sides... I guess families were just glad to be outside.
I also had Dad drive a different route home to see if the ice cream stand was open... real New Englanders eat ice cream even in chilly weather. It was and as we pulled in we saw a worker disinfecting the tables. No one else was there. Dad had a hot fudge sundae and I had my favorite ginger ice cream. This is probably the last ice creams stand ice cream for the season.
Kind of sad that I was about a mile from my beach, but I could not get on it. I will try in October to get a ticket and maybe see if I can get dropped off... the beach will not allow drop offs at the gate, but maybe I can get dropped off at the Orchard and walk in. Maybe..ell, maybe I should book a limo ;-) Or find someone a bit strapped for cash... I just have to trust them to pick me up and not leave me stranded.
