Jun. 8th, 2020 12:08 pmToday I got a phone call.
The boss sent me an email as she she saw that I worked last night. She was polite about saying that all OT needs to be approved...and that it must go through upper management... blah blah blah. I said that I wasn't looking for OT. I needed a jump on the work because the reconciliation function takes 4 hours and I have some classes to take a long business call to get a system fixed, month end reporting and I need to teach myself 2 other functions.
She called.
Again, pussyfooting around. I said I know what you are getting at. I understand about labor board issues. I am in no way working to cause trouble...I am trying to make the best of a situation that I did not ask for as well as deal with systems limitations. It was to ease frustrations as the systems issues take place when the VPN is overload and I am not allowed to change my hours to avoid that.
She said that I should ask for help. I said I needed help with the recs. She said that she couldn't do that due to segregation of duty. I said, yes, I know that so that is why I put in an hour last night so I would have 4 hours today. It is not meant as a conspiracy or insubordination. I just want to get the job done.
She asked me not to work extra and ask for help...
****
yeah, help she cannot give.
Oh and I know labor board stuff. See she should have also asked how much time did I work yesterday and make sure I reduce my hours by that amount of time...because if she doesn't then she can still get in trouble.
I need to cool it or I am going to really get in trouble... I am on the edge of telling them off...

Date: 2020-06-14 03:41 pm (UTC)With working at home, our company's policy is that if you have to shift your hours (due to child care or whatever) that's OK. It shouldn't matter that you're trying to work when the VPN is less stressed, as long as you're not working too many hours.

Date: 2020-06-14 10:34 pm (UTC)I did tell her that I know how to take breaks to keep the time proper.
She is not like this with the other people under her. I think she is trying to get me to quit...
...its just I don't have anywhere to go. I'm trapped. This isn't good for me.
She acted the same way to the bitchy coworker too, and it took her 2 years to find another job and she had a Master's Degree.
They forced the dinosaur out too... especially knowing that her job was the important one, not what I do. If they laid her off she would have gotten a package for a year and then collected unemployment for the full term and then retired.
