Since I took a half day I decided to check in on my friend with the ceramic shop,

Sunday was her first birthday since the loss of her husband.

It turns out that she is still going to the shop even if she isn't open. She tried to stay at home but she found herself crying all the time.

She tried to apply for aid early on but she doesn't qualify for one type of the small business aid because she does not employ anyone else. She was declined for a second type of aid and was told that money has run out for a 3rd. She also does not qualify for unemployment. Her accountant suggested she apply for the aid that Gig workers are applying for.

She is also trying to get the accidental death insurance on her husband. She only received the medical examiners report in the mail last week (husband died Nov 8th). She was told to Fedex the paperwork to the insurance company because it needs to be reviewed by May 1...or else loose it...but the claims people are working remotely. She was told to call back at the end of April to see if they are back to work...and to apply for another extension.

The medical examiner saw evidence of a heart attach... but he fell and snapped his neck.
The ambulance people said the heart arrested in the ambulance. The Doctors told my friend that he would have been brain dead at impact. The insurance company may take it that he had the heart attack and that caused the fall and so they won t consider it an accident.

I feel bad.
