Just received a call that the countertop I want is discontinued. Funny, the contractor cousin was supposed to have ordered it just under a month ago. The countertop guy who came to the house and measured it on May 21 told me I would have it in 5 days... No, I did not believe hime because it was was week before a BIG holiday weekend. Oi.

There was a very similar color choice that I am good with so the order is in. I am just perturbed about not getting a call last week when I was told everything should be done tomorrow or Tuesday.

I am only perturbed...the delay allows me to collect more funds so I can't really be that upset in the grand scheme of things...

...besides there are bigger things bothering me... that I need to drown in the sea...

...if the weather ever clears...

He is a cousin... and I trust him with the keys to the house.

He did my roof and gutters and there was no issue.

From what I have been told about kitchen remodeling, this is how most contractor operate when working with ordering. People I know doing a similar project have been almost 3 months without a kitchen. I think the contractors take on too many jobs at the same time

Are you flipping kidding me? I would be on an absolute RAMPAGE over that.
These people, family or not, are absolutely mistreating you. You are paying MONEY for this. It's not like you're trading photography services or something. Get on the horn, get a very clearly defined monetary figure IN WRITING, and get these people moving on your project.
I'm sorry to come on strong, but this whole thing smells rotten and I'm pissed for you because you're getting walked all over just because these people are family.
