I know 10 people who are out of work with no pay.

One person was let go on Friday and her insurance stopped. Over the weekend she became ill and is now in Mass General. Her kidneys have shut down 90% and they can't find a reason. She is afraid of loosing her house. She is afraid of getting the virus. She is afraid of Staph and c diff. She wants her Mom, but her Mom is a high risk for the virus because of her COPD so she have been warned to stay home.

I fear the recession that is coming.

I fear being laid off and not even being able to get a job at a supermarket.

The isolation ramps up my anxiety over these things. Stressful work hours and restless nights.

We heard that the USA have agreed a $2 Trillion aid deal, I hope that does help those in dire need as you described. It'd help if you didn't have the President you have :( Stay safe and well. x

Jeez, that's madness. The first rule of any government is to look after it's people - ALL it's people and to bend over backward to try and put measures in place that help the majority of the people during this crisis. I do hope you all come through this okay, still with a job or some kind of welfare if the job has gone. For anyone who owns their house outright I don't see the point in telling them to sell it just so they can take vacant rented homes leaving less for those who have little to nothing by way of finances. For those still with a mortgage the welfare system should pay the interest on the loan until the owners have money coming in again to restart paying the mortgage. Of course everyone should get free health care or at least heavily substidised health care - a basic human right.

Our government is doing well (imo) even so there are things that still need to be ironed out so it isn't perfect but how could it be realistically? They are overwhelmed with hundreds of measures to put in place (many that are difficult to arrange) questions to answer and decisions to make. The are working round the clock and have to prioritise as best they can. Thank heaven for our NHS. x

It sounds like they worked out a reasonable compromise for the bill. There are going to be cash payments, and unemployment is going to be extended. I am especially relieved to hear that we'll know where the money is going (the GOP wanted to keep that secret for six months) and that companies that receive bailout money can't use it to buy back stock and prop up their stock prices.

omg, i'm so sorry for your neighbor :( we need to hope that this crisis helps them get a move on with fixing our health care system, and bailing people out of medical debt because holy crap are we headed for a catastrophe without it.
