Having the same issues as yesterday.

Went to the boss for help.

Asked if I could go in as skeleton crew. There are people in the building.

Was denied.

The second in command can do what I am having trouble with.

The Boss sets up a conference message and asks if the second can instruct me in how to plug my laptop in to the modem. Ummm... I know how to do that. I don't need someone to tell me where to shove a plug. The second in command, thankfully, doesn't understand the way I phrased that. It wasn't meant for her.

The boss said I should ask for help if I need it. I said the only help I need is with the reconciling of the huge files. She said oh well, suit your self.

Meanwhile the VPN keeps shutting down...

They probably have high speed internet or broadband or something that's better than you have.

If you need some data, you might want to try a speed test (https://www.speedtest.net/) and see what your internet speed is. Then have a coworker test their speed. Then you could say "My download speed is half of what Karen's is."


If you want a number for comparison, my current download is between 72 and 91 (I ran it twice) and my upload is around 11. That's via Comcast/Xfinity.

I know you can't control it, but I thought it might explain better to your boss what the problem was if you could show her that your internet is slower than the office.

At least it was a thought. Not sure she's listen to you anyway.

And it's absolutely NOT that you're not as smart as the coworker!!!!

Ask her if she has the budget to pay for improving your internet? Because it's not broken, and if she wants you to upgrade to a faster internet, she really should be paying for it. Especially right now, when there are so many people online that even people with high speed internet are probably facing slowdowns. Gah! She's so unreasonable!!!!

Argh, I really hate your manager stories, because she's SO incompetent and mean. =(
