Mar. 18th, 2020 07:02 pmI ended up working 12 hours.
Not pleased.
Things would not work...like I have said. Today I had a new function that I never processed remotely. It was taking a couple hours to download the file because it is HUGE. I asked the boss and the second in command if this was a problem when they processed it remotely... but they responded separately that they had never processed these files remotely. Sigh. I asked them who did it last Tuesday when they had to work remotely as a test...and I was on vacation. Oh.... ummm... the second in command did.
She could not really help me because she doesn't understand me. I asked if the Access program had any special ways of working that are different when we work remote. She didn't know what the Access program was. She doesn't know the software she uses. It took me 4 hours to piece things together... and it angered me. Her answer was that I should go into the office tonight and see if I can find a silver laptop as they are bigger than the black laptops like I have. Ummm... laptops are assigned to people. The building is closed. If there is a laptop there it should be chained to the desk. Even if one magically appeared the laptops have to be set up with your ID to even work. A t least she copied the boss with that answer. Sigh. Since I was told that she had a bigger processor than I have I figured out how to go into the shared drives, copy templates to my hard drive and then try and do the downloads once the majority of people signed off.
I also found out that the coworker who I am training on my main function actually went into the office. She says she only works at home when she is sick. Everything is too slow. She said working at home was awful for the day to day routine stuff. She walks over to work from her house and leaves at lunch time.
It was an asinine day.

Date: 2020-03-19 12:14 am (UTC)A bigger laptop won't make a damn bit of difference if the problem is the network. If you're having trouble downloading, it's the internet that's the problem. Somewhere there is a slow down, and if your coworkers are all having the same problem, it's probably not your house or your internet provider that's the issue, but the main office.
