Mar. 16th, 2020 08:08 pmSo I went to work today.
I was nervous over the late request from my boss. It turns out that one coworker just refused to come in when we have successfully tested that most of us work well from at home...our VPN sucks with big files.
My boss said that she spent most of her day Friday (she works from home Fridays) trying to get the higher bosses to let us all be remote, but they wouldn't listen. She was upset as she told me and said she was very angry when she spoke to the PA manager, but calmed down because her husband (who was home and listening) reminded her that she couldn't afford to loose the job...
I dont mind going in because I THOUGHT there would be 3 to 6 people in the office. NOPE. There were 100 people. There were 3 in my area and we kept 10 feet apart excited when we drove home. The others were all in their normal seats...less than 4 ft apart. Sigh. And many were women over 65. They were told they had to come in. The management at this bank needs to be kicked in their butts.
I understand social distancing. I understand germs. Ma died from contamination. I disinfected when she was dying and threw away my clothing. I disinfected the desk and left bleach wipes at the printers and carried bleach wipes to the bathroom. I have gloves to go to the grocery store...
I am not so afraid of the virus as I am the economic crash that is going to come.
