ravena_kadeToday was lllllllllooooooooonnnnngggggg. Another 10 hour day.
I almost made the dinosaur go extinct.
Sigh.
She has a function where she does about 2 hundred accounting transactions in a batch. Last year I tried to teach her away to accomplish this using a spread sheet instead of typing each transaction. She refused. Said the way I did it was confusing so she said she wanted to do it another way. I told her that this is the way I know that works. Just watch me. Well talk through the steps and in a few days you'll get it. No hurry. We will just do it together. She refused. I made her tell the boss that she refused my training. She did.
Today...just about a year later...there was an issue with the way she produced her batch of accounting transactions. It seems she is taking them home at night and finishing them in the morning. This is creating an effective date issue and the boss told her to fix the dates. We could not fix it. The boss' second in command tried to help, but could not fix it either. i said to leave it and in the morning I would process it in the spread sheet way. Well, dinosaur made a big deal out of it and went on and on about how no one trained her and how unfair it was...blah blah blah. The second asked if I didn't try to teach her...and she went on about how I don't do it right and how I trained her wrong... and that she didn't want to be taught wrong by me. I almost stood up and yelled Bullshit.... I wanted to. Really. I was so mad.
I explained to the second that I sorted the info on the spread sheet so that all the same general ledger accounts were together and in numerical order so we could see if there was anything wrong. All I do is highlight the sheet and hit sort and choose the column with the account number in it. I do it to make it faster to identify a mistake. The second thought this was a good idea, especially if there are days with 500 transactions per batch.
I sent the boss and email. I said I was frustrated and wanted to go over it with her...since she is the boss. We met by the printer while the second tried to show the dinosaur the process. I told her that I was upset by what was going on. Its not fair that I work from 5 AM to 3 PM without lunch and I get tossed under the bus by someone who looks at kittens on the internet most of the day.
The boss said I should ignore the dinosaur. Frankly I don't believe that I should have to. She needs to stop it. She is passive aggressive and manipulative... and I am too tired to put up with that crap. The boss said that she knows I tried to teach the dinosaur. The second knows and doesn't think less of me (I know that) and even the new boss in Pennsylvania has been told that I tried to bring the dinosaur up to speed last year. Okay. Yay we all know, but what will happen is that tomorrow at 5 AM dinosaur is going to start bugging me about this again, and I am not interested in training her...especially not at 5 AM. The boss said that I would tell her that since she didn't want to learn from me that she would have to wait for the second to come in...which is 2.5 hours later.
So I go back to my desk and the boss goes to lunch. Dinosaur did not go to lunch, but bitched and bitched and bitched. I guess her spreadsheet of transactions did not work. She wanted me to tell the second t

The boss told me that the dinosaur needs to learn this new way. They eliminated a position in our area and did not lay her off...so he needs to do things the way we all do them or retire. The Pennsylvania boss has said that this isn't a daycare... everyone needs to pull their weight.
We shall see.

If they laid her off she would have had a year's salary. 6 months of health care, and then 39 weeks of unemployment and after that collect her social security, her 401k and her late husbands 401k .
