So Tuesday my hands felt like someone was stepping on them... hurt enough to be a distraction and stop me from doing things. It was definitely weather affected. I am now officially a weather crone. Oh boy. I also have been lax on my banana and tumeric shakes...got to get back on that. I also want to find a good quality CBD oil to try... none of the novelty items.

Work was better this week...and will be better next week as the coworker will be back and I can do just my work.

All of my Christmas shopping was done this week. I am a bit disappointed that my Dad's Christmas present was lost in transit. That's what I get for ordering on Friday the 13th.
I bought him a Dyson cordless vacuum. I found a good sale. It was supposed to get here yesterday but Fed EX said the order did not exist. I did spend 2 hours tracking things down yesterday and a replacement will be here on Jan 2.

I went to visit 2 elderly friend on Thursday. I do miss them, but they bicker a lot so it is not great for my head space. I feel bad as their family, which was the family I liked to spend Christmas with, is falling apart. A sister passed away this winter and all the kids in my generation have turned into money grubbing selfish jerks... and my 2 friends are alone accept for one nephew and while, but they are firefighters and their schedules are weird.

Well, I go over Thursday and the frail one has been sick and is on oxygen. I thought she was having congestive heart failure, but she refused to go to the hospital. He breathing was like my Mom's just before she passed...It was frightening. She was hooked up to an oxygen making machine and a 50ft cord. Her request for a portable oxygen take was denied by insurance. Not sure why. She needs an antibiotic to clear either the bronchitis or pneumonia, but is not breathing well enough to come off the machine to go and refuses to go by ambulance ... sad. I said good night that night thinking it was a good bye because we also thought she might be having congestive heart failure... but it is her right to refuse to go to the hospital. She understood that if she passed out for a second 911 was being called.

I checked in the next day and things were better. She stayed upright in a chair all night and it helped with the heart and breathing. Her roommate says that she was breathing a bit better.

This bothers me. How do we get elders meds when they can't leave the house. My Mom only had to go into a rehab because I could only get pain killer pills. That going back in contaminated her. People should not die of a broken arm.. And here is a 74 year old on a piece of equipment that is too heavy to lift into a car and she can't get a simps Z pack. I get the pain killers, but I don't think a z pack has a huge street value... What to do.

Oh well. I will check on her today after I have my dinner guests.

Today I have my Dad's sisters over for a Christmas dinner. I am making a cranberry/orange roast pork and stuffed golden acorn squash. One aunt does not eat meat so I thought the stuffed squash, stuffed with quinoa cranberries shallots and walnuts, would be festive and look like something on a plate. I hope she likes it.

The older I get, the more our so-called health care system reminds me of the monster that lurked under my bed when I was three...:(

It saddens me that so many people suffer from such a poor health service in what is an immensely wealthy country. It must be such a worry as people age and things start to go wrong with their bodies. I hope your hands feel a bit better now and that you enjoy Christmas with your family. The Christmas dinner for your aunts sounds yummy. x
