My Friend's husband it gone.

I saw her today. She said that she was afraid that they would tell her that she would have to make the choice. I saw her at 11 AM.

I just got the call that he was gone.

She said that he really died on Sunday.

They told her today that when he fell he broke his neck and no blood has been going to the brain at all.

I am stunned that they could not tell that earlier. They said he had a cervical fracture but it wasn't anything that would prevent movement...it would heal... Thats what they said. Monday. It takes until Friday t say that he snapped his neck and died. A freak accident.

So freaking sad that they put her through that.

She has a long road ahead. The mortgage wasn't in her name. He did have life insurance. Hopefully it was enough to pay off a chunk the house and let her refinance in her name.

I can help with the shop... until she gets on her feet. I can also help after ... if she wants.

So sad. Just so sad.

yikes! and GAH - yes, to not be able to tell her he was gone when they first saw him is very odd. it leaves one wondering if they wanted to hospitalize him for a couple days and charge her for it, which is hopefully just me being cynical.

i hope everything medical is covered, and that she can refinance the house!

actually I had 3 people tell me that may have done what they did to harvest his organs

oh yikes. maybe. if he was an organ donor, that's one thing, but they still shouldn't have confused the issue giving the wife hope. if they did that, that's sick.

Something is seriously wrong with that hospital if they knew his injury was life-threatening and didn't tell her for days. That might even be medical malpractice.

My sympathies for your loss.

and she has no money, or right now will to fight. Hopefully his insurance will cover the expenses

The only thing I can think of is that there might have been swelling that hid the extent of the damage. But I agree with everyone else, that sounds like a malpractice suit waiting to happen.

I'm so sorry for your friend and her loss. =(
