120 people were laid off today.

I still have a job.

The person who got me the job was let go. She had been there 35 years. I know she will be okay as her house and car are paid off. She has no kids and wanted to retire in 2 years anyways. I spoke to her and she is fine.

At 4:45 my VP had a meeting that we had to call into. He explained that they lay offs were for cost cutting. Our area did not have a lay off as they are not replacing my back up. He mentioned something about retirement... but he has many many people under him. I just find it odd that she older woman next to me, who bitches about EVERYTHING and looks at kittens on the internet all day was oddly silent. I wonder if she did decide to retire. Sadly she would have made out better if she was laid off as she would have gotten a year's salary and 6 months of healthcare...plus unemployment for a few months and then retired. She would have made out. But if she didn't then they let go good workers and kept someone who looks at kittens on the internet.

Oh well. I am still here.

Times have been interesting.

I have a few days off...tomorrow and Friday to craft for a small craft show on Saturday, then Sunday and Monday to just relax.

But, but, but... "Respect adds up," doesn't it?

Jesus fuck, these people... I can't.

Glad you still have your job. I often wonder how the powers-that-be make the decision on who goes and who stays. Hopefully they attempt to be fair.

It suggests they value you more than some, which gives you a certain amount of leverage about thing like bullying bosses!

The aftermath of surviving a layoff is always rotten. I am glad you are getting some time off to relax. {{hugs}}

I am glad you kept your job as that's one less worry. But yeah, effed if I can guess what their criteria was for layoffs
