I was disappointed today.

Went to the hand therapist and left with some stretches and some silly putty.

No follow up. No concern.

My right hand is now weaker than my left by 2 pounds of pressure... I am right handed. It should be stronger.

They say no one can really know why my hands are being weird, but just do stretches. Ummm...gee the titles Hand Specialist and Therapist should give me more insight or maybe just not charge me the hundreds of dollars for this unhelpful info.

I described the pain waking me up at night...like a throbbing tooth ache in my hands and I was told to take Tylenol or Ibuprofen, but not a lot as not to damage my kidneys or liver.

They also think CBD oil is a joke.

So much for the medical people ... at least they did not kill me like they did my Mother.

Back to doing what I need to do. Pain is part of getting old.

Did you get a reference to this therapist from your PCP? One would hope he/she would know someone with some skill. :(

Medicine today is like a cattle call. I think I need a witch doctor.

It really sounds like you are having an allergic reaction to something. I would start journaling what time of day it is worst and what you were doing. This is how I discovered people were using my sword or gloves and I was breaking out in hives. It may not help but it can't hurt <3

The allergy thing may be a ticket...perhaps it is a cumulative thing. Summer tends to be a lot of Fried foods. Maybe cut out some of that and cut out some gluten... I hate to fall into the gluten buzz word thing, but there is a ton of buns and rolls and pasta in my life now.

Seconding this suggestion, because it would also help you track if any particular actions are aggravating your hands. I know that my wrists flare up with lots of keyboarding + lots of hand sewing, so I try not to overdo those two things at the same time.

I'm sorry it's Still incredibly frustrating for you. To be frank the hand therapist sounds useless. If she had any real professionalism she wouldn't rest until she had identified the cause and it should all be part of the consultation payment. From my point of view, it's appalling to do a mental shrug and send you away on a wing and a prayer and take no real responsibility for helping you. Easy money.
