Aug. 8th, 2019 09:17 pmYesterday my hands hurt quite a bit in work. I am doing pretty much the exact same thing that caused the injury... in my humble opinion...except now I am trying to do it in splints.
I went out with a friend after work...and I really think a couple pf blueberry vodka lemonades took the pain away better than the meds I was given.
Today I was trying to plug through the work with the splints on. One person I used to work with said I should have called in sick. The problem is that the work has an 8/14 deadline and they would have held it for me to do anyways.
When I dropped off one report tp the boss I noticed that the back up decided to take Monday off... she is the only one that is supposed to help me. Yeah... NOT HOLDING MY BREATH. I spoke the boss about it. The boss said that the back up just asked for the day today. I said that was fine, but it is crunch time. I am going to need some help Monday as my priority is to finish the reports before we meet NEW BOSS. She asked me why. I surprised myself as I did not explode. I held up my splinted hands and said "These aren't jewelry. I am in some pain and calling in sick won't get the work done for me" SIGH. She said "Oh, yeah, right...just tell me what you need" My head hurts.
I contacted the hand specialist. Tod her that the swelling has not changed and that I am out of pills tomorrow. I asked for a follow up. I asked if I needed an x-ray. She replied quickly enough. She doesn't think its arthritis or a bone thing. She wants to send me t therapy for edema. Umm... okay. At least an occupational therapist can tell me how I should go about my routines. This resting my hands is causing problems at home as I have no help.
It bothers me that she doesn't think I need an x-ray... and if it is not recommended it is not paid for by my crappy insurance. I think it's odd that she didn't think she needed to see me again. A non caring medical person costs the same as a caring one... and my insurance won't pay if the first one isn't as caring as I like.
I looked up hand edema and the gyn doc was right with the splint idea. The thing that I read was that it could be 6 weeks before I see any results. I will ask the therapist about that for sure.
What I am doing about it is eating any natural inflammatory foods. The banana is my friend ;-P Saturday I will visit the CBD shop in the town where my Beach is and see if there is a lotion I can use.
Hand massage would be lovely right now.
