I Miss my Mom.
I tried to set up a breakfast or a lunch get together with a friend, but they did not get back to me.
Plan B had me putting on my orange dress and spending the Day in Boston. I miss working there.
I went to a place called Saltie Girl, a seafood bar, and had Fried Lobster with waffles for brunch. It was really good...best waffle I ever ate. Cute place, but definitely for folks at the higher end of town than I am.
After that I roamed around town. I stopped in Saffora and rediscovered my love for a certain perfume. I love perfume, but I am careful where I wear scent as friends and coworkers have sensitivities. I also saw a few things that gave me an idea on how to pencil out an art project I was mulling around in my head.
I hit the farmers market and saw some nice things. I saw white sunflowers. I didn't now they grew that way.
After I went in search of a bead store that I read about on line. It's way off the beaten path in the South End. I was so happy to find a real brick and mortar bead shop in Boston. Micheals craft stores killed them all years ago. The shop owner was really nice. The shop is a family business between her, her husband and their special needs daughter (who is 9). The daughter had some necklaces for sale. Sweet. The prices were more than you would get at the craft store, but I know that my purchases support this family directly. =) They offer classes and such. I will go back and learn from her. I enjoyed talking about jewelry with the woman. I even shared the name of the stone bead place I go to up in NH with her.
She had a fabulous geode pendant sitting at her register and she said she was having troubles coming up with an idea for it. We collaborated...and when I am stuck for ideas I always reach for pearls. It was fun. I introduced her to the term "Opera Length". Coco Channel designed items in that length. We searched the internet for inspiration/examples. What amazes me is that she and her husband can sell statement jewelry. She would price the item we talked about for $300. Wow. I make statement pieces but have never found a market. I know I have nice things as people have wanted to barter with me for them...they really wanted it, but frankly bartering is kind of insulting unless I have shown interest in your items/skills (I'd give my best piece to anyone that could help me organize my craft room).
Headed home to do the grocery shopping.
We to dinner with Dad at a small local place. We order fried fish for take out there, but never ate in their small dining room. I had a steamed lobster and chowder.
I have been home watching shark week. =)
Tomorrow I go to a surprise 40th birthday party for someone I met at their one year old birthday party. I am old.
I want to draw out my painting and make jewelry. I will probably go to bed after my sister calls.
