It is terribly sad, a piece of renfaire I thought was eternal is gone. It wasn't clear exactly what happened-surgery gone wrong?

sounds like they were putting a port for some regular treatment...a very common thing, and he had a heart issue on the operating table.

He also had a RAGING case of diabetes that he was not remotely aggressive or careful enough about.
