Not working today

ravena_kadeYesterday I was killer busy. The boss came in at 6 AM and read her emails... and then when her boss comes in and reads his emails I hear a call over to me "why are you sending emails at 5 PM'? I called back saying that its because the time I left and I forgot to send it early. I went back to work. I know she is only posturing for her boss. When I didn't continue she said that she didn't want me staying late to finish the report. I acknowledged that, but went back to work. I wanted to say that the shit won't get out the door unless it is done and I have no support when I am on vacation... but I had a full day ahead so I just went back to work. Yes, I know I was dismissing her. So what? I need this work done by Tuesday. About 15 minutes later she comes over and says that she hopes I didn't think she was mad at me. No, not at all. (I know she was putting on the show for the boss). I told her that I would use the 2 hours for the appointment I have on Wednesday, but I was on a roll and this needs to get done.
She also mentioned lack of back up. I agreed. She wanted to know why we don't work like the other people on the team. Ummm...you hired 3 people that are friends outside work. They work well together and care about each other. I am sitting here with someone who reads out of state real estate prices and does college home work all day and someone who should have retired 2 years ago, but you folks want to keep her on. I can try to engage, but it's up to you to to make them perform or provide a consequence. Neither cares about the job. I want this job because it is close and I have time to go home and do other things, and have 5 weeks vacation time.

She doesn't have to like me, but she should still expect things from my coworkers.
