I put in for a day to go to a Renn Festival with a friend in May.

It was okay'd.

Then the person next to me need s the day for her 95 year old mother to have surgery...

and my back up tells the boss (never mentioned it to me) that she is graduating on that day. When I asked her about days she needed off because she was graduating and her son was graduating she said nothing when I laid out my whole vacation schedule.

I went to my boss. I said that I am not a dick to force the issue, but I did try to work out vacation time with them like a proper team should... and they didn't talk to me at all. I try to engage the team... and it's like I am on another planet... and I do the most work. I won't be the jerk now, but for anything else...I am that jerk.

I try. I really do... but sigh...

i hope it's just them being the standard "Well, it's too far ahead and I don't know what time I need and I'll figure it out eventually Oh CRAP, Yeah, I needed that day" clueless idiots, and not an actual desire to be jerks to you. the not talking BS would annoy me too. wth

I specifically laid out all my vacation days.

The old lady whose mom is having surgery I get.

What person attending any school doesn't know exactly when the graduate. I would be counting the days. She should have been able to tell me that last Thursday.

nope...

and while the human race is full of idiots... These people need talking to. One should retire as all she does is complain about not getting more work, but screws up everything she does...and we work with people's credit cards and bank accounts...and the screw ups are seen by the customers. That and she denies training.

The other is tough...single mom using the system to not work, yet be protected.... and will leave shortly...but not short enough for me. Maybe by Christmas, but I am in limbo.

technically seniority, and in this case I asked first..but you can't change when a college graduates.
