Jan. 23rd, 2019 10:50 pmToday was long...long...long...
It started when I got to work at 5:15 AM and the coworker that lost her husband was having computer problems and would not let me take off my coat before she started on me to try and figure out what she did. She was frenzied. I didn't feel great so I was so not in the mood... and computer stuff is not my strength. I asked he to wait until I hung up my coat. Nope. I tried to get ,my Diet Pepsi and she followed me. Sigh It took me 45 minutes to figure out what was going on...and in the end it really wasn't me. I pulled out my phone and googled the problem and found a video to show me how to fix. Sigh.
Then she had more problems
When someone else came in she jumped them and said that I really wasn't any good with helping... I wanted to bite her. The other coworker listened to her new problem and fixed it and she said that we all have these problems, its just the way it is. And she is right.
The the woman deleted several important emails because she thought they were Phishing and she freaked out. Sigh. That were legit emails. The security department called the boss to tell her of all the phishing emails that the coworker reported.
I had an issue with another department where they refused to balance the payments to several credit cards...ummm... we work in a bank you must balance. I took it to my boss and I could feel myself getting really snappy because I was frustrated and tired from the morning. I apologized. The boss said she agreed with me and that my email was fine... I said I apologized for my tone and I know I sound really annoyed... and I lightly went over what happen at 5:15 AM. Oi.
Later the boss came over to ask if I knew where the coworker was. I said no, but she was having a bad day. She said she knew, but the coworker made a dramatic big deal about not being able to finish her work, but then disappears for an hour. Sigh. The boss confines in me that she thinks that the worker is having a nervous breakdown. Umm...yes. Possibly. Something is going on... it seem more than grief. (she is acting like my Grandmother who did have a nervous breakdown 6 months before she died and my Gram died at 69). The boss told me that everything the worker does is full of errors and the boss is fixing it. Sigh. The boss is concerned as she has to address it but doesn't know how. My bosses do not have any real people skills. They thought the coworker was going to retire in February, but now she is not. The errors are big enough that someone who had not just lost their husband would be let go or asked to retire to not be fired...but the boss doesn't know what to do. Sad. From what I know the coworker is okay for money. Her house was paid off 20 years ago. There was a $500,000 life insurance policy on the husband and she has her 401k, his 401k, and he also has a small pension.
Not sure how things are going to unfold...
I just don't need the drama.

I think it's high time the bosses consider the health and well-being of the *productive* members of the team. Meh.
