Jan. 19th, 2019 10:14 amNot a fan of 3 day weekends in the dead of winter. Cant go anywhere as it is too cold and anything interesting inside is so full of families that you are squished or can't see anything (aquarium or museum, or movies). This weekend we are getting a storm so everyone is freaking out. Umm..it's January. We are in New England. It's supposed to happen.
I do have a plan... It starts with making a big pot of healthy veggie and ground turkey chili for the week. It's the healthiest thing I know how to make. Tons of veggies. Hot an healthy. Then later is is a big pot of spaghetti sauce (also known as Sunday Gravy to my Italian relatives and Sicilian meatballs... That is meatballs with raisins. Ma never made them like that (she was Irish and French Canadian), but Dad likes raisins and I have a friend whose Mom would make them that way... so it's a meatball with a surprise. I like different.
The last food item is a pork shoulder that I saw at the market. Ma never cooked those. It was 5 pounds and only cost 6 dollars. I am going to pop it in a crock pot with a beer and make pulled pork to toss with BBQ sauce and put on baked sweet potatoes during the week.
While the food is going on I am going into the craft room and get that under control so I can paint. The Christmas Jewelry/Beading stuff just explodes. I can't paint with that chaos.
The chili is done and now into the craft room....
Hoping the storm just stays rain.

Date: 2019-01-20 10:34 pm (UTC)And I know what you mean about three day weekends in the winter. I don't have Monday off, but if I did, I'm not sure what I'd do with myself other than stay home and read under a pile of kitties.
