Aug. 9th, 2022 07:40 pmCalled my Mother's brothers to tell them about the 85 year old uncle being back i the hospital and about the get together at the cousins house in October for Dad's Birthday and one Uncle's birthday since my Sister is home and the Texas Uncle is trying to be home.
The Uncle and Aunt who live 4 blocks away from me: The Aunt answers and I tell her about the elder Uncle and how I wanted them to know so it wouldn't be like when we got the call that the elder Aunt was not doing well and 20 later she died because none of us knew she was sick. I actually choked up. I then said that since covid no one has seen each other for happy times and the only time we saw each other was at the elder aunts funeral. I said that Texas Uncle is trying to come home in October and my Sister will be home in October and Dad and Uncle Joe's birthday is then so we are going to have a get together at the cousins big house on Oct 22. The Aunt says "Well how do I say this...Its nice that I have in invitation but do the Cousins even know of this or are you just inviting me to their house without them knowing?" Ouch. Sigh. it was their Idea. I dint want a party. So much for reaching out. The she tells me about how successful one of her sons is and how successful the other son's girl friend is. Oi. She then puts the uncle on and he has about 15 words for me. He is not a talker.
Texas Uncle: I called him 3 times before he didnt hang up on me. Told him about the Elder Uncle. Then he mentioned how ill his sister in law is...sad... but then the conversation turned to how the family is trying to hide money so the sister can get services . All the while his phone keeps cutting out and It was hard to even hear him... Gee for all the money the talk about how about buying a new phone and getting rid of the 1990 cordless phone... or f'ing charge your iPhone 13 and use it. Oi. In the end his phone cut to and I tried to call back 4 times. No answering machine either. WTF
And the cousins wonder why I don't call my Uncles. =(
