Mar. 30th, 2021 10:31 pmToday we had the mandatory meeting that started before 7 AM. It was all of operations. The basic idea of it was to introduce us to the new CEO of Operations and for her to tell us that change is coming...maybe in 20 days. Oi.
She also mentions how there are several things that are done in different areas that can either be consolidated, outsourced or automated. And then said that a PRIME example of this is reconciliation and claims. I do both. Once she said automated and outsourced she had 300 people in a panic and no one cared what else she said.
They ended the meeting by saying that they had talked long enough and we should all get back on the phones and get to work. Gee real warm and fuzzy... and operations is not the call center.
After the meeting I could tell that my team leader was on the phone...and coincidentally so was the Boston Boss. No surprise. I had a question for the team lead so she called me after she finished talking to the boss. I asked if she was okay. She was clearly spooked. This has been her only job for 34 years and she has a 9 year old. She said that she talked to the Boston Boss and that she was reaching out to the VP.
10 minutes later we get another meeting. This to discuss our concerns...but the VP didnt feel the need to join us. She tried to tell us not to worry and to calm down...and that lay offs aren't that bad. I opened my mouth and said that it almost bankrupted me. (Insensitive cow) The 6 people in the group all had very valid concerns.
She then asked me my concern and I said that it really wasn't a concern, but an issue. I understand that each new CEO wants to make their mark, make changes, and bring in their people, but what was the point of picking out a very specific group of people and saying that what they do can be consolidated or automated or outsourced and you may know in 20 days. All that does is create panic. The should have said that they will be looking into combining a few areas, but not say exactly who until they make the announcement. Unless they are looking to scare people into leaving. The others agreed, but the 2 that I do the reconcilements with both said that they had no place else they could go to. =( Sad.
So, maybe by mid April I will either have a new boss or a new job or no job. Who knows.
