Feb. 7th, 2021 10:38 amI was up before sunrise and walking south on the home beach road. The sidewalks were clear, but Quincy Shore Drives really never empty of cars. The walk to the Blacks creek estuary is 1.4 miles. When I got the the light was bright. Sun on Mt left. Moon on my right.
No eagles. Maybe eagles on fish at the high tide?
I walked a wooded pat that felt really woodsy but there is a park way maybe 70 ft away from the trail. Greeted by some happy dogs and their owners.
I crossed a road and took a new path that I hoped would double back towards the beach. It did not, but it was good to explore. I ran into another photographer.
I did not see any eagles. I did see lottos winter song birds. Goodness are they fast. Lots of geese and ducks. One duck seemed to be doing a Burgess Meredith Penguin impersonations. Really weird in the quiet.
I enjoyed exploring in the quiet of the morning. I enjoyed trying to get pics of the song birds. The type of photo hunting helps me loose my nagging brain. I am in the moment...and thats it. Thats why I like going out with my camera. Maybe next time Ill get some shots.
Things I learned:
Don't bother with the tripod, or at least get a shoulder strap for it. Birds are fast... no time to get a tripod set up.
Plan for the way back. There and back was 7 miles. I haven't done that since my last day at my Ipswich beach in 2019. The shut done and work from at home crap has really impacted my ability to walk. I have lost my stride. Today my Gluteus Medians are painful (I had to look up the name).
Bring water. I was out 3 and a half hours and did not eat or drink before I set out.
Wear the right shoes. I have Roport walking shoes, but they really are for sidewalks and city walking. I did order some hiking sneakers that ate waterproof, but they are held up due o all the postal woes. I should have them tomorrow.
I will walk the trail again, but I need to get out more before I do long walks. It will be nice in spring. I hope there are ferns there. I like taking photos of the ferns as they unroll in the spring.
