Wednesday I had an Eye doc appointment. I was able to get one in a small place and booked it because the weather forecast on Sunday thought we would still have rain from the hurricane...we had 6 minutes of rain... on Tuesday...that is it.

Since I had to be in town I booked an early visit to the Aquarium. I was one of 2 guests in the place at 8 AM...no one else came in until 9. The place was as clean as it could be. All the volunteers were masked. The only not great thing was that the giant ocean tank and the Amazon river tank were still dark... They do that so the animals have a sense of night and day. I didn't really mind as I am a member and i know the place, but if I was a tourist guest with kids...I would not have been pleased. It should be noted when making reservations because if someone pays $100 to bring in their family, they may want to see the fish. The lights came back on at 8:45.

Sadly lots f the little places I would stop and grab a drink or a bite were closed due to COVID... and many will never open back up. Sad.

At 10 I had my eye appointment. It is a small office and only allows one patient in at a time. I went with them as they had an appointment available this week. Other places I could not get in until September...or early when I work, but because of the way things are at work I am no longer allowed to take a morning appointment without taking PTO and I can't take PTO because of vacations. =( The exam was nice. The people were friendly and funny. The Doc was smart and thorough and very very nice. My prescription changed in 1 eye. I knew something wasn't the same as I am having trouble with detail on my ceramics. Hopefully its just the eye and not my hand too. I hope this also helps with work. 10 hours at small spreadsheet print is killing me. The doc said I should get up and stop doing that type of work ever half hour to relieve the strain.

I did pick out new frames...2 sets. One I fell in love with. They are a tortoise shell but in blues. I think they really pop with the new brighter red hair and will look nice if I go more auburn for the winter. The other is a pair of half rims for when I paint (the rim gets in my sightline when I paint. That sad thing is that since it is a tiny place I won't get my glasses for a couple weeks. Bummer.

Thursday I tried to get to the sea. I was on an 8:30 train to Manchester by the Sea.

I wanted to find Lobster cove. I did. It was quite a walk, but when I got there it was pretty on the surface, but it was low tide and the water was weedy, murky and smelly. The sand area was courser than where I live and hurt my feet (I am a tender toe). The locals leave trash all around and leave lots of dog poop to that I am sure washes into the sea when the tide is high.

I stopped by the real beach... I talked to the gate keeper and he could et me see the beach, but would not let me on the sand without a town ID. I sat on a rock a bit and listened to the waves. The beach was practically empty. And then a group of young people came by...they looked like either late high school or early college age... maybe about 25 of them. None wearing masks. The man at the gate looked embarrassed under his mask. I said "strangers are not the ones that are going to hurt us...it will be our own youth" He agreed.

I grabbed an early train home. I tire easily now that I have been out of shape. I need to get walking again. I need to at least get walking for an hour a day and maybe work to get at more. The pandemic shuttering has killed my stamina. I can garden and do chores for hours by legs have gotten lazy.

Today is a chore day. I need to setoff my butt and get cracking.
