Last week I was on vacation. My sister and her roommate came to visit.

The days before the vacation were a stress fest. I had tickets to Jimmy Buffet, and that was great, but I also had to cook 5 days of meals for my Day, get the house cleaned for critical people, pack and then repack as the weather was colder than my summer vacation clothes would handle, and had a request to leave a day before I planned....

The days in Maine were a bust. Rain rain rain...cold and rain. I was asked to go up early so that the friend could spend time with family. OK. When I get there I find out it is a 3 year old's birthday.... in the rain. Screaming kids in a tiny place in the rain. WE did go shopping one day. A 2 hour ride to LL Bean and I bought a lighter winter type coat to wear.

We did a whale watch and I was happy that we saw dolphin, but no whales. The weather kept them away. The boat was also a smaller boat than I am used to so we got soaked by the bow waves.

The rest of the time the people I was with could not make up their mind what to do so we spent more time in the car than in any of the quite towns. I suggested the movies, I suggested museums... I put my foot down when it stopped raining and said that if we had no plans then I wanted to go to a beach just to walk. (too much sitting makes me ache)

Last year I really fell in love with Ogunquit Maine. We spent 1 hour there. I am planning a trip there next year even if I have to go by myself. It is quaint for being a tourist town. I like a nice room that is close to a beach and plenty of art shops and such if it rains. Relaxing is good and naps too.

We did have a good day when we headed south. We went to my beach in Ipswich and had a great beach day. The only downer was that someone left their iPhone in their swim short pocket and didn't remember until we were in the water for 20 minutes. It was destroyed, but the beach day was achieved.

The next day I arranged a behind the scene tour of the Aquarium... I loved it...even if I found out that the anaconda exhibit was a draw for cockroaches and there really wasn't much they could do about it without harming the animals. I still want to work there some day ;-)

The rest of the time was spent visiting relatives.

Yesterday Dad and I needed to do yard chores as the rains made the crab grass grow so much it was like the house was being engulfed by the jungle.

Today is more chores to catch up and then brace myself for the work week. Thinks were mentally not great before I left ...

I have started today making a few healthy veggie meals as Dad and I are going on a diet. I want to drop 25 -30 pounds before the end of year. A goal I think I can make if I stop eating crappy snack foods.
