Jul. 4th, 2018 08:14 pmIt was an interesting day at the end. In the morning I worked the garden, got some sun, and then went to the cousins. Rather pedantic but okay.
If my yard isn't wrecked by critters or old men, then gardening is relaxing for me... so my morning was just the way I wanted it. =)
Headed to the cousins as Dad gets bored and while he drives me nits he shouldn't spend his day off doing chores just because of me. The cousins bought a small portable spa/ hot tub thing and asked if I wanted to try it out. It was lovely (no heat on). It also is only about $300. Maybe next year...too many bills this year).
Cam home at 5:30 as I had things I wanted to do in the apartment. At one point my neighbors are in the driveway and the younger man waved to me. I went out asking if something was wrong. Nope. He just didn't know how to get a hold of me. He had half a side of salmon that was given to him today... fresh from the fish distributer ... he has another 2 halves and wanted to know if I wanted one. Sure. I love salmon. The wanted to give us something as Dad gave them some things from the house when they were doing some renovations at their house. I portioned out the salmon to freeze some and had a piece for dinner. Yummy.
The best thing is that I found out where they were from. I felt stupid asking, but I would like to communicate better with the old man. They are Albanian. The wife won a lottery and they were able to emigrate to the states and are so happy. The old man was a geography teacher in Albania and last year he passed the U.S. Citizen test. He is just having a hard time learning English. I also found out he is a year older than my Dad. Wow. I told Dad... I think he is jealous ;-)
The husband and wire were also school teachers, but do to the language difference they are doing other things in the states.
It was really nice to get to talk to them. =) Now I need to learn a few Albanian words.
