Jan. 14th, 2018 07:18 pmCeramics class was calm. Yay. The 81 year old aunt did now come so the 89 year old aunt was in a reasonable mood. She is doing designs on tiles using underglazes. Not what I would have recommended, but she is willing to try something new and I like that. She is painting an Easter morning scene on a 6 x 6 inch tile. I hope it works.
I suggested that we might try doing acrylics on small canvases. She has a good eye, and acrylic does not require a trip to the kiln so if she likes it then it's all good. No surprises. Her kids seem supportive and suggested that it was something she could even do when she was home alone.
I wonder why her senior center has not tried painting with the ladies. Maybe because good paint costs? Not sure I could show a bunch of old ladies how to paint, but I know I can work with my aunt.
