Oct. 21st, 2017 06:31 pmToday I took a field trip with my Dad and 2 cousins that are my ceramic students. We took an hour drive to Somerset Massachusetts to a tiny ceramic shop. The shop is so tiny it is in a shed in a back yard. Tiny in space, but the woman had a ton of things that my Dad and cousins really liked. We dropped $200 and I hope that is a good sale for a Saturday in a shed ;-)
The woman was really nice. I like her a lot. She retired last year and is using the ceramic biz to help with her retirement. She lives with her husband, who works at UPS, her 80 year old Mom, who is partially blind but very mobile, and her 50 year old Downs Syndrome brother....oh and 2 schnauzers. I love how she took a shed, filled the walls with shovels, tossed a table in the middle and has a business... and for being so tiny it is still brighter and cleaner and less cluttered than the ceramic shop my friend owns. There was a class going on when we showed up and the 5 students were also very friendly and helpful. They told my cousins all about the things they were making and showed us their favorite items as we had to read over them.
Once we got home I noticed that she did not charge us for a big item. I called her and she said she was going to call me because she over charged me $2.00 for a snowman I bought. I'll send her a check.
I will see her in November as she does a big craft show in Boston. I wish she was closer. I wish my league was more on the ball, but I think most people in the league are not interested in hustling any more so it would be a waste for this woman.
