Its hard for me to post on my phone so I usually don't update when I am away unless sit is photos.

The B&B was nice... a quaint only Victorian home. Everything was very very clean and cozy. Breakfast was lovely. And the host even offered to drive me back to the train station and to hold my luggage even after I checked out. I would stay there again.

The class was interesting. I learned what I wanted, but it didn't deliver what the course described... Ten 6x6 inch paintings. We mostly did studies on velum ...which was okay for me because I have not painted in acrylic before. The other students in the room have all been painting for YEARS...some have sold paintings and some taught. Not sure what they got out of the class aside from being able to paint with others...which can be nice.

Found it strange that she had us ground each painting in red.

I really want to sketch my subject in... nor full draw, but at least get size and shape down. I know this can be done with chalk or watercolor pencil.

The teacher was kind enough to give me a few masonite boards...and I liked the better than the small canvases.

The teacher brought a bucket of flowers...which was nice. If she said that I would not have packed up some many items for still life. I ended up using my orange bottle and sea shell just because I wanted to get better at the same thing...and I can see how I changed. I also brought a lemon and used it a couple times.

At one point the instructor asked me if I was going to get up at 5 AM tomorrow and paint. I said that I would be at the job working on Spreadsheets for banking... and I heard "You work"? Apparently I was the youngest student in the room and the only one not retired or well off ...re retired and well off... sigh.

The instructor also said many times that she didn't understand why people bothered to struggle with watercolor... she didn't get it. I guess that is not one of her talents ;-)

It seems she makes her living at teaching art and not really selling art. Still, It is better than the day office job. I loved teaching ceramics years ago...my cousins don't count...

...now the only think I need is to carve out time paint.

i have also told you - acrylics are easy. tons of second chances, lots of technique wiggle-room. watercolors are hard!and you're amazing with them. not that i'm telling you not to grow, i just really think you'd sell well if you found your niche.

i keep wishing/thinking you into a situation where you'll have a selling space. :)

glad you enjoyed the class!

I'm glad you got what you wanted to out of the class.

And from what you've said about the teacher, she sounds like she's lived in her own unusual little world most of her life. I'm not surprised that you were suprising to her. Your life and hers have been very, very different.
